Zaporozhye region plans to declare independence and become part of Russia within its administrative borders, confirmed Vladimir Rogov, a member of the regional CAA.
Russian troops control part of the Zaporozhye region, including Energodar, where the largest nuclear power plant in Europe is located, as well as Melitopol and Berdyansk. The regional center of the region, the city of Zaporozhye, remains controlled by Kiev.
According to Rogov, 73% of the territory of the Zaporozhye region is now under the control of Russian forces.
