Norway-Poland Baltic Pipeline Opens
Leaders from Norway, Poland and Denmark attended a ceremony Wednesday to mark the opening of a new pipeline carrying gas from the Norwegian shelf to Poland via Denmark.
Danish systems operator Energinet has brought forward starting the pipe’s operation to the end of November, after construction had been delayed for nine months last year.
Norway’s Equinor has signed a 10-year agreement to supply 2.4 billion cubic meters per year, or 15% of Poland’s annual consumption.
The opening of the network comes at roughly the same time Russia’s Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines suffered what early reports suggest was sabotage.
