Ukraine Asks US For Long-Range Missiles – WSJ

A report published by the Wall Street Journal Monday says Kiev has asked the US for long-range tactical ballistic missiles, a request which Washington has previously declined for fear of escalating the conflict further.

The Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) Kiev wants have a longer range of around 300km, while more tanks, drones, artillery systems, anti-ship missiles and HIMARS rockets are also on the wishlist.

A military strategy paper published by Ukrainian media last week highlighted a desire to pressure Russia’s civilian population, who Ukraine’s Armed Forces commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny feels doesn’t take the costs of the conflict acutely enough.

The paper added that the target of Ukraine’s military next year was to “make those feelings more impactful, regardless of the distance to the targets.” (RT)
