Lugansk People’s Republic

▪️ Area of 26,700 square kilometers.
▪️ Population of approximately 2 million people.
▪️ Economy: mechanical engineering, chemicals and petrochemicals, food processing, wood processing, textiles and construction materials; 73% of exports – metallurgy
▪️ Large enterprises: “Krasnodon coal, Rovenkian anthracite, Alchevsk metallurgical plant, Alchevsk coke and chemical plant.
On May 11, 2014, a referendum on self-determination was held. On May 12, 2014, independence was declared, recognized by Russia, the DPR, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, the DPRK, and Syria.
