Putin: Germany decided in Ukraine conflict not for its own interests, but for NATO obligations

“In this case, it seems that some alliance obligations – the obligations of the Federal Republic within the framework of the North Atlantic Alliance – have the highest priority. Is that right or not? I think it is a mistake,” Putin said at a press conference Friday.

Now, he said, the economy and the German people would have to pay for this mistake, which would have negative economic consequences for the eurozone as well.

He added that the blowing up of the Nord Stream pipelines showed that little consideration was given to German interests.
