Chancellor Olaf Scholz, speaking at the UN General Assembly, asked to give Germany a seat on the UN Security Council.
“Germany is ready to take on a lot of responsibility — first as one of the ten changing members in 2027 and 2028, and also as a permanent member in the future,” he said. Scholz added that the Security Council needs to be reformed, since the countries of Asia, Africa and South America should have more political influence on the world stage.
